Based on the nominations received until the dead-line 31 March 2014, the General Committee (GC) of the ESCP decided on two additional members to be recognized as ESCP Fellows. The awardees received both a certificate and a plaque (photo). Both were present at the ESCP Symposia in Copenhagen.
The ESCP Fellowship is awarded in recognition of continued excellence in clinical pharmacy practice and/or research, contribution to the advancement of clinical pharmacy, preferably in Europe, and services for ESCP.
Hannelore Kreckel is working as a clinical pharmacist for many years. She has been active in developing and promoting clinical pharmacy in Europe, and especially in Germany. She was a respected member of ESCP General Committee from 1999 to 2006, and has been an active member of ESCP Education Committee. She is a popular workshop moderater and speaker.
In the early 1990s whe was a visiting pharmacists at several hospitlas in the USA. She is trained as a specialist in nutrition and palliative care. Her work as a pharmacist has been at the Pharmacy Department of the University Hospital, Justus-Liebig-University, Giessen, Germany where she holds the positions as Head of a Satellite Pharmacy. As a clinical pharmacist she has particular interest in promoting education of pharmacists and other care professinals. Her lists of merits is long, for instanse as Vice President of the Germany Society of Oncology Pharmacy, Member of Examining board Chamber of Pharmacy, and member of the review boards of the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and of Drugs and therapeutic Perspectives.
Piera Polidori has shown an extensive dedication for ESCP over numerous years. She was one of the first Italian pharmacist to promote Clinical Pharmacy in Italy, and supported the accreditation of the ESCP conferences for the Italian pharmacists to increase the number of participants.
She has written numerous contributions to the ESCP newsletter and the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy. She has been an active ESCP member, for instance in the communication committee and, in the General Committee and active in several scientific committees of the ESCP conferences. Lately she organized the 2014 ESCP international workshop in Palermo.
Piera Polidori is the chief of the Clinical Pharmacy of the Ismett (Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione) in Palermo, Italy. Within the Italian Society of Hospital Pharmacy (SIFO), she is a member of General Committee as a Scientific Director. She promoted a pilot project supported by the Italian Ministry of Health in developing clinical pharmacy through the introduction of the department pharmacists in the oncologic and hematologic departments. She is the scientific coordinator for a national project: Antimicrobial Stewardship in Medicine: Impact/Implementation of the Clinical Pharmacist in the Italian Health System) in collaboration with European partners and the Ministry of Health in Italy.
The ESCP General Committee is proud to award the ESCP Fellowship to Hannelore Kreckel and Piera Polidori in recognition of outstanding efforts to promote clinical pharmacy practice and research. We thank both award winners for their contribution to ESCP.
