Based on the nominations received until the dead-line 31 March 2015, the General Committee (GC) of the ESCP decided on one additional member to be recognized as ESCP Fellow. Georges Zelger received both a certificate and a plaque (photo) at the ESCP Symposium in Lisbon.
The ESCP Fellowship is awarded in recognition of continued excellence in clinical pharmacy practice and/or research, contribution to the advancement of clinical pharmacy, preferably in Europe, and services for ESCP.
Georges Zelger has a FPH in hospital pharmacy and is Privat Docent of the University of Geneva. He was chief pharmacist at the Geriatric hospital of Geneva. He then became the first chief pharmacist of the PHNVB network « pharmacie des hôpitaux du Nord vaudois et de la Broye », in Yverdon, that was constructed under his supervision and opened in 2001. There he developed clinical pharmacy activities and trained numerous hospital pharmacists. Georges was an inspiring president of ESCP from 1996-1998 and still visits the ESCP conferences where he also contributes content. Georges also served GSASA, the Swiss Association of Public Health Administration and Hospital Pharmacists, during many years and was its president during 2005 to 2007. His important contribution to the Swiss hospital and clinical pharmacy is recognized and Georges was elected as honorary member of the GSASA in 2012.
The ESCP General Committee is proud to award the ESCP Fellowship to Georges Zelger in recognition of outstanding efforts to promote clinical pharmacy practice and research. We thank the award winner for his contribution to ESCP.
