This webinar aims to guide attendees through key stages of conducting a research priority setting partnership using James Lind Alliance principles.
Cathal Cadogan is an Associate Professor in Pharmacy Practice at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trinity College Dublin. His main research interest focuses on developing supports to help people make informed decisions about starting and stopping psychotropic medication. Cathal is a member of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy and sits on the ESCP Research Committee. He has previously been involved in the development and delivery of the Research Masterclass at two previous ESCP Annual Conferences. Cathal sits on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Benzodiazepine Best Practices (https://benzoreform.org/) and is an associate member of the International Institute for Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal.
Miriam Boland is a qualified pharmacist and is currently in the final year of her PhD at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trinity College Dublin under the supervision of Dr Cathal Cadogan and Professor Agnes Higgins. Miriam’s PhD focuses on understanding and supporting the withdrawal process from psychiatric medication for people experiencing mental health problems. As part of her PhD, Miriam has led on a James Lind Alliance priority setting partnership to identify priorities for future research on reducing and stopping psychiatric medication. This has involved extensive engagement with key stakeholder groups representing people with lived experience of taking and/or stopping psychiatric medication, family members, carers and supporters, and healthcare professionals.
Agnes Higgins is Professor in Mental Health at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin. She is a registered mental health nurse, general nurse and nurse tutor with >35 years’ clinical and education experience. Agnes has a long-standing track record in mental health research with a particular focus on mental health recovery and service. The central theme underpinning her research is on increasing understanding of service users’ and family members’ experience of mental health service provision and the development of strategies that promote recovery and social inclusion. Agnes is a Fellow of Trinity College and a Fellow (Ad Eundem) of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has been a chairperson or member of numerous policy, research, and advocacy committees/groups in mental health.
