Dear colleagues,
With July drawing to a close, 2026 is well into its second half. Many of us are now enjoying, or looking forward to, some well-deserved summer holidays with family and friends.
Taking a break from our daily routines and the demands of clinical pharmacy is important. Rest and recovery help us regain our energy, but they also give us an opportunity to step back and look at our work from a different perspective.
In our everyday practice, we are often focused on the next patient, the next clinical decision and the next problem that needs to be solved. But when we pause, we can sometimes see the bigger picture more clearly.
We can see how much our profession has evolved and recognise the difference our work makes — for individual patients, healthcare teams and healthcare systems. We are reminded that clinical pharmacy is about more than what we do every day. It is also about the change we are creating together.
The first half of 2026 has been a busy one for ESCP.
In February, we came together in Innsbruck for our Spring Workshop, focusing on medication safety. Our webinar program has continued throughout the spring, covering a range of interesting and relevant topics, and the Education Committee has already prepared an exciting series of webinars for the autumn. I encourage you to take a look at what is coming up and join us for the next series. The Research Committee is preparing a Masterclass in Almada and is also responsible for coordinating the abstract review process and decisions. The Communication Committee continues to share information about ESCP activities through our social media channels. Our Special Interest Groups are also highly active, connecting members with shared interests and fostering exchange, collaboration and learning across the profession. The Almada Organising and Scientific Committee is preparing a rich and varied program for our Autumn Symposium. I very much hope that many of you will join us there. There is still a little time left to benefit from the Early Bird registration fee and to submit an abstract as part of the Supplementary Call for Abstracts — the deadline for both is 31 July 2026.
As we look towards the second half of the year, I hope that the summer will give you the opportunity to rest, recharge and spend time with the people close to you. I also hope that, when we return to our work, we will do so with renewed energy and a clear sense of why what we do matters. There is still much to achieve, but there is also much to be proud of.
I look forward to meeting many of you during the second half of 2026 — at our webinars and, hopefully, in person at our annual Symposium in Almada.
