The General Committee of ESCP has decided to leave X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Early 2024 many universities have decided to leave X, citing declining relevance and reduced engagement. We have noted that the number of content moderators has been seriously decreased, leading to an increase in fake news and more hatred inducing posts.

The changes to Platform X—from the algorithmic amplification of right-wing populist content to the restriction of organic reach—make its continued use unacceptable for ESCP. The Society’s withdrawal underscores our commitment to fact-based communication and our opposition to anti-democratic forces. The values that promote diversity, freedom, and science are no longer upheld on the platform.

We want to reaffirm the importance of an open and constructive culture of debate. This decision applies exclusively to our X account and does not affect our communication via other social media channels, of which we will continue to closely monitor the development of the platforms and their algorithms.
