Joanne is a Clinical Education Pharmacist in Northern Ireland and is passionate about supporting patients and pharmacy teams to optimise patient outcomes. She worked in community pharmacy before undertaking a PhD in 1999. She has been working in hospital clinical pharmacy since 2002, maintaining an interest in research. Most recent roles include Teacher Practitioner Pharmacist, deployment to palliative care during the Covid-19 pandemic and iSIMPATHY (implementing stimulating innovation in the management of polypharmacy and adherence through the years) project pharmacist. She is a tutor and assessor for pharmacy undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Joanne is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen’s University, Belfast, an independent prescriber and a member of the ESCP Education Committee.

Francesca is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Malta. She graduated as a pharmacist in 2007 with first class honours. She completed a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in 2011 with a dissertation that involved developing a quality system for clinical pharmacy services in a geriatric and rehabilitation hospital. She completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2015 with a dissertation on the pharmacogenetic implications of clopidogrel therapy, including application of a point-of-care testing approach. Francesca is also actively involved in pharmacy practice, teaching and research, leads clinical skills laboratory practical sessions on the preparation and administration of vaccines and point-of-care testing. She facilitates Erasmus+ mobility for studies and traineeships for incoming and outgoing pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology students. Francesca is presently a member of ESCP’s Research Committee.
