Description
The aim of the webinar is to understand the use of work-based assessments to contribute to assessment and portfolio development in pharmacy practice.
Dr Charlotte Richardson is a registered pharmacist and Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy at Newcastle University, where she leads the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) programme as Degree Programme Director. She holds a PhD in Pharmacy Education from Keele University, where she explored the use of simulation to better train pharmacists. Her professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council underpins a career that blends academic leadership, pharmacy practice, and pedagogical innovation.
She joined Newcastle University in 2019 as lead for placements and work based learning across the MPharm, overseeing placements that immersed students in real clinical environments and student led health screening clinics. Charlotte supported the iterative expansion of placement activities and assessments across a multitude of settings. In her current role as DPD, she manages the day to day operation, strategic growth, and academic governance of the MPharm programme.
She is also a practising community pharmacist and her research focuses on pharmacy practice, applied health research, and pharmacy education. Nationally in the UK, she contributes to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Education Standards Committee and has supported the implementation of Entrustable Professional Activities across pharmacy education.
