Kayleigh Davison is a nationally recognised, multi-award-winning Lead Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner and NIHR In-Practice Fellow, Kayleigh holds a unique dual-role appointment that combines advanced clinical practice with academic research. She is currently the only pharmacist in the UK to be awarded the prestigious NIHR In-Practice Fellowship. She completed my independent prescribing training in a general practice setting, with a clinical focus on acute presentations within minor illnesses, under the expert supervision of an exceptional General Practitioner and supported by the wider general practice team. Kayleigh has progressively developed my independent prescribing skills and currently practices as a generalist within general practice, with a special interest in polypharmacy.
Her growing research portfolio investigates polypharmacy in the context of health literacy, advancing role of pharmacists and the integration of clinical pharmacists into multidisciplinary teams within primary care. She has contributed to workforce transformation by supporting the integration of prescribing training into the national pilot of foundation pharmacist’s training year ahead of the full national integration. Kayleigh has also supported multi-professional independent prescribing training and also designs and delivers multi-professional teaching programmes, particularly in polypharmacy, clinical decision-making and clinical skills. Her leadership has been central to developing and embedding pharmacy roles within primary care, contributing to more effective, patient-centred service models.
